This course package on offer from Bottom Dwellers Freediving is a 1.5 Day Package where you’ll learn the fundamentals of Snorkelling in the PFI Snorkeler course and then build on those skilllsets with the safe practices and risk management techniques for snorkelling and freediving in the PFI Safe-Buddy Course. Learn proper and safe Snorkelling Techniques from a PFI Professional in this Advanced Snorkeler Package then take the skillsets learnt in the class and pool and adapt them to an live ocean setting while on a guided Bottom Dweller's Snorkel Adventure.
Includes: PFI Snorkeler Certification, PFI Safe Buddy Certification, All Instruction in Class, Confined Water and Open Water settings, Pool Booking and a guided in-water adventure on the final day.
PFI SNORKELER COURSE:
The PFI snorkeler course is the entry level course in the PFI education platform which Bottom Dwellers instructs. By taking the PFI Snorkeler course you will learn proper safety and problem management techniques, skills, techniques and the basics of surface snorkelling with the option of limited skin dives to a maximum of 5m/16'. Taking the PFI Snorkeler course will allow you when completed, to enjoy the aquatic world in a safe and knowledgeable manner. Heading on a warm water trip? PFI SAFE BUDDY
The PFI Safe Buddy program was designed by PFI to create a platform upon which its students and customers, certified or not, could learn about the safety procedures, rescue techniques and risk management methods which accompany safe freediving practices. This program was designed by PFI with the intention of helping increase safety awareness during recreational breath-holding/freediving activities. This course focuses solely on the safety and problem management for apnea training along with near blackout (Loss of Motor Control etc.) and blackout management. It does not include instruction for any freediving or breath-hold techniques as does the PFI Freediver courses.
Course Format:
Classroom: 3 hours
Confined water: 4 hours
Open-Water: 2* hours in-water time (*pending variability of weather, conditions and groups ability)
COURSE PREREQUISITES:
Have a full understanding the Bottom Dwellers Liability Release found in the link of the waiver set below. Acknowledge your understanding and agreement to this liability release and its terms by completing the Adobe Sign contract presented digitally by Bottom Dwellers prior to payment.
Fully read and understand the terms of the Medical Form and make any arrangements required for doctor’s stamp and signature prior to course.
Swimming experience required
Good bill of health and fitness - (see attached medical form)
16 years of age minimum for full certification
10-16 years of age with guardian permission (subject to discretion of Bottom Dwellers) for junior certification
Equipment Requirements:
As part of the PFI Snorkeler course with Bottom Dwellers you will learn to select, manage and maintain your personal equipment for snorkelling. (All equipment must be appropriate for the local environment in which the course will be taught)
Full Wetsuit (5-7mm for cold-water locations, with a strong recommendation of a 7mm freediving suit or at a minimum 5mm open-cell freediving suit)

Fins
Weight-belt and weights
Snorkel Vest (optional)
If you’re looking for a more advanced snorkeler course our ‘Pool-Freediver+’ Package which will get you spending more time under the surface and mastering freediving and surface safety protocols. The ‘Pool-Freediver+’ is our most thorough ‘Advanced-Snorkeler’ program also known as our ‘Advanced Snorkeler+’ which takes you through a full Pool-Only Freediver certification program prior to getting in ocean for a guided open-water adventure where you continue to develop your skills in a live diving environment.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR A COURSE: (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY)
Step 1: Confirm Course Availability on site or Book a Private
Step 2: Download, read fully and have a complete understanding of the liability Release.
Step 3: Fill out the Registration form below on this page after referencing the course equipment requirements and medical form links below.
Step 4: Upon receipt of your registration form we will send you an ‘Adobe Sign’ agreement as acknowledgement of the liability waiver. When you have a full understanding of the liability release and you consent to its terms you may fill out and complete the agreement.
Step 5: After completing your electronic liability waiver acknowledgement via Adobe Sign you will be prompted to Make Payment for your seat for the desired available course with us via e-transfer.
After the Adobe Sign liability release acknowledgement is complete and the form below on this page has been submitted you may arrange for payments with Bottom Dwellers via E-transfer. You will receive a receipt for your payment which will be input by us manually through Online Store via ‘Squareup’.
